Event Details

The average American sees between 6,000 - 10,000 messages per day. Between social media, the 24-hour news cycle, and all the other ways to consume content, it’s hard to ignore the often divided and contentious culture that we live in right now. This constant consumption affects how we communicate with each other, creating further divide. We aren’t called to ignore culture but to live in a way that brings light to the darkness. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus mentions several well-known sayings and social norms for the culture of that time, but he countered those sayings with new ones that looked at both the actions to be taken and the motivations behind those actions. What would it look like if every part of our lives was lived not according to what culture says, but what Jesus says? How would that change how we speak, interact, and connect with each other? It’s not always easy to swim against the tide of culture when we’re surrounded by it. It comes down to the condition of our hearts. Are we showing the REAL love of Jesus? Join us as we look at what Jesus says about living a counter-cultural life and what we can do to change how we live.
