We Had No Idea

When my daughter, who was in first grade at the time, expressed interest in playing a school sport, my husband and I hardly knew what to do. We’re soooo not sports people. It’s really not even a conscious decision we made, we just both happened to grow up in families where sports were neither played nor watched aside from the occasional Superbowl. That’s football, right?? But for our child? Sure. We could do this. So we signed her up and had nightmares visions of dropping her off at practice a couple times a week and showing up to her games where we would gleefully cheer our little athlete on. Go sports! Do the thing! Score the points!

We had no idea.

We had no idea that we were walking into a full-fledged community. And not just with the kids, but the parents too! It was amazing! There were poster-making parties being planned, and matching parent t-shirts to order, and tailgate parties to sign up for, and needless to say this was far exceeding any expectations we had of parental involvement! Being raging extroverts, we’ve always found ourselves in community with a group of friends from work or at church and knew community was just something we wanted and needed in our lives. What we didn’t realize until that first night of our daughter’s practice was that community is something everyone wants and needs. It goes even farther than that - we are wired for community. It’s how God made us. And we will find it somewhere.

Here at GT Church one of the best ways to find community is in a GT Group. What’s a GT Group you ask? A GT Group is a small group of people who gather regularly in each other’s homes to grow in their relationships with God and with each other. It’s a place where you can find answers to some of your pressing questions about the bible or following Jesus. It’s a place where you can find other people in your area or stage of life going through the same things you are. It’s a place where you can find belonging, and find your tribe.

If you’d like to get connected in a GT Group just stop by The HUB and fill out a Life Groups Interest Card and we will work one-on-one with you to find your perfect GT Group fit. So, whether you’re looking to make some new friends or grow in your walk with God, GT Groups is the way to go because life change happens in circles, not rows.
